Let's face it, 60's and 70's era muscle cars, of any brand, left a lot to be desired when it came to build quality. Our Mopars are no different. For some reason it seems like A-Body's usually came out on the bottom when it comes to that, BUT it plagues all the models! So to help we have a Motor Mount Shim Kit, but it's not a magical fix all. While we do enjoy selling products, 9 times out of 10 the shims are really not required. We get phone calls all the time for fitment issues due to poor factory build quality, and we always have a free solution for those callers. If you ever run into this our best advice is to loosen all the mounting hardware and jack/pry the engine into place, then lock down the hardware. Without fail someone will install the motor mount brackets on the engine block and tighten everything down with it on the stand; this is a recipe for an ill fitting engine. All the mounting holes on the brackets, and on the engine block are 1/2 inch. The hardware is 7/16. While this doesn't seem like a lot, it is enough to move the engine around to its final resting place without the use of motor mount shims . . . 9 times out of 10.
Now, of course, there is always an instance when that doesn't work. For those folks we'll happily sell them our shim kits. If you get to this point, try this tip above. It doesn't cost anything except a little more time making it right.
